ode to woodford

as much as i love my woodford

my dog

not the bourbon

no, i love the bourbon too

but right now i want to talk about the hairy one

not the hair of the dog, though

this is getting confusing.

pictures, shall we?

this is the baby

and i love him to pieces

i just wish he loved me as much as he loves his daddy

i realize i should just get some legit plastic to cover my couch and call it a day...and you can call me memaw
seriously

woodford never fawns over me like this

i feel like i'm not invited to the all boys club

these two get to hang out all the time together

and would rather me just go shopping so they can do their own thing.

whatever boys...

without me who would make you biscuits???

and cookies???

ok, so the cookies were for me to console myself...but don't act like you didn't eat one...BILL

and don't act like i didn't let you lick the peanut butter spoon...WOODFORD!

if you're not feeling the love right now

or it's snowy/rainy out

you should totally make these cookies that popped up while pinteresting

they are delicious.

and the perfect way to bribe your wonderful husband to watch a marathon of justified on amazon instant prime over the ncaa tournament

unfortunately, there is no way to guilt your dog into cuddling with you

unless you lay in his favorite spot and he decides it's acceptable to plop down on top of you.

bourbon weekend

Funny Presidents Day Ecard: Enjoy a day where we celebrate our greatest leaders by marking down the retail price of our greatest appliances.

anyone off today?

back to work for me!

and wouldn't you know it - it's supposed to be in the 50's today

all weekend  it was in the 20's and 30's

but that didn't stop me from getting my runs in

the pain is starting to ease in my shins - i feel like i've worked through some of the initial pain, and when my new shoes are delivered tomorrow i'm going to be more than ready to take them on a longer run!  and by longer...i mean like 2 miles instead of 1

and even though the temps were freezing this weekend, bill and i couldn't help ourselves
we didn't travel too far - just a big loop through two neighborhoods
the weather, originally, was supposed to be warmer - and i had big plans for us to bike it to the donut shop

but it was FREEZING riding downhill

and we have yet to get helmets - which is next on our list of items to purchase along with locks.

i can't wait for spring...

the rest of our weekend looked like this

 blankey +laptop = HEAT!

mario cart and batman legos game

woodford thinking deep thoughts

woodford taking a stand

actually, just demanding belly rubs

oh, and, we celebrated maker's mark's decision NOT to dilute it's bourbon

we're obviously woodford fans - but love maker's price point and value :)

what's your favorite bourbon?  and if maker's mark did dilute their bourbon just a tiny bit, would you have still bought it?

if you have today off - please take a nap for me - this coffee isn't working this morning.

bonne saint valentin!

happy valentine's day!

yesterday was a typical kentucky winter

it snowed during the afternoon - some areas getting 2-3"

and by the time i got home it was warmer (45ish) and all melted!

which is fine by me

i have a goal to keep!

day 1 of 40 consecutive days of running

went well!

i had a cute furry friend with me

it's amazing how dogs pick up on different cues.

i usually come home and put on lounge pants, but last night i put on running tights and a sweatshirt and was lacing up my tennis shoes

and all that added up to a run in little woodford's mind.

he was jumping and prancing and looking at me with a wagging tail.

so we jogged around the neighborhood - and he pulled me the whole way.

about 10 minutes after the photo above was taken i captured my little fur baby like this

anyone who has a britney spaniel, or any sporting dog for that matter - knows how relieving it is when they finally lay down.

on the running front - i knew my shoes were bad

i trained for a marathon all last summer in them

but i guess i didn;t think they were this bad

i can feel my finger push through the other side - eep!

the rest of the shoe looks relatively good still, but i tend to run on my toes - jog - for the most part - and after my brief jaunt last  night i quickly felt the pain in my calves and ankles

luckily, i was proactive earlier in the morning

and ordered a new pair of brooks online

i loved my ghost 4's so much i went ahead an upgraded to the ghost 5's.

i kind of wish i could still get them in the green and yellow - those were fun colors

but maybe the purple and blue will look prettier with my running clothes?

annnnnd i spent last night trying to come up with a new header for the blog - what do you think?

i added a dailymile widget too - on the right - it should count all my miles and keep my honest - as long as i remember to plug in my garmin data daily!

are you on dailymile? let's be friends!

like running valentines :)

speaking of valentines...

woodford got me a card

but picked up the wrong sized envelope
bless his heart
and this card...is obviously meant in the most literal sense...

oh and his daddy got me a card too

our first valentine's day as a married couple!

spent opening cards in bed before work

actually...i haven't given bill his card yet.

we really don't have any plans for valentine's day - especially since bill will be working tonight.

and we probably won't do much this weekend to celebrate specifically for valentine's day -

do you and your significant other celebrate valentine's day?  or are you more laid back and just exchange cards?

sick pup

i spent over an hour last night

following around a sick doggie

cleaning up sick mess

the poor guy decided he wanted to eat a tennis ball

at least part of a tennis ball

we're still monitoring him - he seems to be doing better and hasn't gotten sick this morning

but last night i was pretty worried if he didn't stop getting sick

he couldn't even keep water down for a period of time

and i tried to get him to eat a banana

but when he smelled it

he got sick again.

i'm convinced on some level that having a dog prepares you for children.

this morning - after too little sleep, and brewing two k-cups

bill handed woodford a piece of banana and he ate it

he also drank lots of water in his crate last night and kept it down

if he's acting himself today and eats some food i'm going to call an all clear

otherwise we might be headed to the vet.

on top of that excitement

i took woodford out to eat some grass at one point last night and we ran into a skunk

i wish i had my phone on me

because this skunk was huge

and i kid you not it started to come towards us - rather pissed off looking

all i could think about was the rugrats episode where chuckie gets sprayed by one and must take a tomato juice bath

and then i remembered the episode of myth busters where they tested different skunk odor fighters and tomato juice definitely didn't work

all these thoughts as woodford and i jog back to the house.

such a fun filled evening didn't result in much else getting accomplished

however

i do have pictures of an almost finished hat

imagine my water bottle is a cute baby with a cute wittle head (actually i think this hat is rather stretchy so, if it's a big baby head - hey i'm not judging - it will probably fit)

cute, huh?

looks finished, right?

well the pattern never connects the hat in the round, and you're left with this little tab on one side of the hat

it's meant to be sewn down with a button or crochet flower

i'm going to ask emily her preference - and then proceed

if a crochet flower is needed - i'm going to have to brush up on those skills...i've only ever crocheted granny squares

but i can't wait to mail this little hat - i'm going to bet it looks better on da bebe.

ok

i'm going in search of more coffee

and some crochet tutorials.

fall evenings

last night bill was able to take off early

we were all pretty happy about that

bill and i have opposite work schedules, and it's nights like these that i get really bummed that we don't share the same schedule

evening and morning walks together with woodford are really nice especially with the cooler weather

and it's always good to have someone else around in case you spot this

apparently it is a black and yellow garden spider - it's HUGE!

midweek musings

happy hump day!

i came home last night to this

that's either bill doing jazzercize or

a blurry picture of bill trying to score 2 stars on just dance to "airplanes" - multiple attempts were made

he got one star

i then declared i could get 2 on my first try.

i got 4.

just dance is my favorite game to bust out when people come over - dance offs always happen - couples vs couples or boys vs girls.

after shaming bill's score, bill was kind enough to make dinner :)

i typically eat a vegetarian diet - bill never really thinks much about it - but he's mostly vegetarian too - except when we go out to eat.

check out the meal he made

clearly cheese is an important food group.

2 cups of steamed broccoli - salted - 50 calories
1 cup mac and cheese - made with soy milk~ 400 calories
half of a baked potato with butter spread, salt and cheese slice ~200

not bad bill!  i think i would have chose potato OR mac and cheese, but since i didn't have to cook, i was happy.

followed by GLEE!  I watched it while in the hotel last week, but bill hadn't seen episode 3, and since i've kind of got him hooked on the show, i gladly watched it again.

i love blain and i love britney.

why yes we keep our furniture covered with sheets and towels.  i DO NOT want woodford to ruin it
i love this brittany too.

woodford tries so hard to be a lap dog but he's a.) too lanky and awkward and b.) not patient enough to sit still for 2 minutes.

i love that dog.

here's a flashback of how little he was this time last year

he's a punk rocker...

they grow up so quick
