Thankful November 11-22-13

i'm here

no worries :)

this week i am thankful for

  • sleep.  so much sleep.  and it was needed.

  • my nephew

who reminded me how fun it is to get a bunch of blankets + pillows out and watch movies

oh, and color too.
  • evening cuddles with this gal (that's her leg stretched out like she owns the place)
  •  ABCfamily - and the fact that they have a countdown to their countdown

i've watched UP! and Wall*e - and tonight it's mulan.  in college my bff and i would order chinese and watch mulan.  i think i'm going to do the same tonight.

  • and woodford.  who has been on board with 9 pm bedtimes.
have a great weekend!  hopefully you have a nice short work week headed your way as well!

thankful november 11-8-13

it's back!

woodford is ready to get his gobble on!

each friday in november i want to express my thankfulness for random items

starting with

this adorable cheese tray/cloche

which was also thrifted last weekend for $10 (along with my new coffee table)

i can't wait to put it to use throughout the holidays

uhm, and the hallmark channel

it's putting me in the best of moods

which happens to equal - sappy, crying and happy

i've watched the channel every night this week!

sherwin williams sales!  really, SW paint in general

Sales and Coupons USA

but i love a good sale - and 40% off paint is great!  especially when we already had plans to paint the bathroom!

annnd, let's not forget bath and body works

3-Wick Candles > 2 for $22

2 for 22!  i need some good holiday smells in my life

and finally

best friends.

i am so blessed to have you in my life

and so glad you're just a text or phone call away :)

high 5 friday

well it's the last friday of november

and i really wanted to post this picture again

so high 5 friday/thankful november for the record books

1.  instagram is so awesome - i don't know how it happened but i currently have 745 likes on this photo

so if you're new to the blog from instagram - HI!  and if you don't follow me on instagram, you can @ racholiver

i don't normally take such awesome photos, but i have to admit - everything in the keys was just so pretty to capture.

2.  i posted about this yesterday

but it's the best thing ever, and i don't think i can ever purchase ice cream again after this experience.  i'm heading to kroger this weekend to buy more flavors.

3.  i'm a little christmas obsessed this year.  and i'm not ashamed.  i currently have 3 trees up (in a 2 bedroom condo) and i am threatening to go get another tree for the kitchen.

something with baked good-ornaments on it?

i'm not going to even front.  this is probably happening this weekend.  i'm thankful for an extra week of november after thanksgiving to really decorate the house before december is even here!

4.  green bean deliveries.

i have a healthy bunch of brussels sprouts that are going to get cooked down with some onion and asparagus this weekend. i'm salivating just thinking about it.

5.  as per usual.  bath and body works.  they are having an awesome coupon right now.  one free item ($13 value) with the purchase of $10.  it's so easy to spend $10 - so load up on stocking stuffers and get a free item for yourself!

Free item of your choice with any purchase of $10 or more

thankful november

it's been so long!

thanksgiving/black friday/small business saturday/cyber sunday-monday really kept me busy

so let's get caught up on what i'm thankful for

1.
pitiful puppies that are sad about missing out on turkey.

2.
turkey trots and ridiculous hats.  warning: if you wear said hats you WILL be interviewed by the local news.  i was too embarrassed to watch- but i've heard it's on whas11 's website after it aired on the noon news. also, in the past 3 years, this is by far the best weather we've had for thanksgiving.  we've battled cold and rain previously.

3.

post run starbucks - per tradition.

4.

oh and post run, pre-thanksgiving mimosas.

5.
Vanna Speaks
this book.  which i discovered sitting in the in-law's sunroom.  i'm sure it's an inspirational read.  and the reviews on amazon are off the charts:

4.0 out of 5 stars Turns letters, write books, does sit ups - I LOVE HER!!!, December 7, 2003
By
"idioteqnician" (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Vanna Speaks (Hardcover)
I bet that at any given moment, somebody, somewhere, is writing a Master's thesis called something like "I'd Like To Solve the Puzzle: B-Celebrities and Why We Love Them".From the very get-go in chapter 1, when Vanna tells you how she does her sit-ups then gives you instructions to make her favourite afghan, right to page 190, at the very end, when Vanna shamelessly plugs McDonald's, Spring Air mattresses, and Nestle's chocloate (and including more than 32 pages of photos inbetween!), I thought this book was brilliant and brainless. Apparently, just after this book was shortlisted for the Man Booker in early 1987, some scandalous, unauthorized photos of Vanna were published in Playboy.

6.

black friday shopping.  and crazy people.  for everyone who thinks their too good to go out shopping and that we're all just a bunch of consumerist freaks.  you're right.  and you're also boring.  there's something humbling about standing in line for 30 minutes to buy sweatpants for $5.  and how often do you get to talk to complete strangers who have been up for 22 hours and are wearing antlers and pajama pants?

7.

margaritas - for after talking to grown women wearing antlers at macys while wearing pajama pants

8.

covered football arenas.

9.

and  friendly fans...who even though you're rooting for the away team (buffalo), don't heckle you when your quarterback can't throw a touchdown pass to save his life.

10.

a husband that drives all the way up and all the way back in one day while i can lay back and read buzzfeed.

11.

friends who are willing to watch our little bundle of brittany spaniel while we're out for the day.  bless his heart he was so tired when we got home - he ran us over to get in his crate to sleep.

12.

lastly

i'm thankful for my health, bill's health, family and friends to get together with, friends that are far away but keep in touch, opportunities and blessings that are occurring in our lives,

and

pie.  thank you jesus for pie.

thankful november

it's friday!  so it's...

5 things i'm jazzed about this week:

1.

winter beer is out!  i picked up the leinenkugel winter mix - and while this one was pretty stouty - it definitely tasted like winter

2.
my alma mater (berea college) has a new president and he is in town to speak - so i've reserved my seat to meet him.

my aunt who also went to berea for a short period of time is joining me

roelofs (right) is a runner and is encouraging the campus to run with him.  he also has what appears to be a brittany spaniel, too.  i feel like we have so much in common!  side story - i started running in college and i miss running the tiny town of berea so much!  i used to run everywhere - and i would have covered half the town in 5 miles :)

my aunt and i got the first dog a little gift from three dog bakery...

3.
this is the last full week before a nice short work week (the rumor is mon-wed will be casual as well)

4.
it's freezing out but we still have yet to turn the heat on.  thanks to impart a downstairs condo who i assume keeps his place at 85 degrees.  oh and...

my own brittany spaniel that doubles as a blanket

everybody pile in now!

5.
short (hopefully) friday work days.  i'm typing this thursday, so this may not end up being true.  but today (friday) i'm down at our campbellsville plant to help with physical inventory.  i have to be up at 5:30 am - but there's a good possibility i'll be done at 3 pm.  so fingers crossed....

Nov 9, 2012

thankful november

it's friday and i know everyone has been making a list of what they're thankful for everyday on facebook.  but i thought it would be appropriate to include my usual list of 5 things at the end of everyweek in lieu of doing that.

is this offensive?  what about this joke  "what does a native american dog say?"  howwwwwl.  sorry.  moving on...
since i've been mia for the past couple of weeks - i'll include a few things i'm thankful from last week too!

1.

i'm mrs ottman!

i was signing my name to something the other day - and i wasn't sure which name to use since i haven't officially changed mine...but i guess i need to start practicing.  did anyone else used to doodle on their notebooks in middle school with your last name written as some celebrity crush?  i'm totally going to do that this afternoon.  except with my real life crush.

2.

i took this picture in the bathroom this morning so it looks orangey

but i love that i get to wear my wedding band now too!  i think it makes my ring look more fancy.  also.  it was bought on amazon.  i wasn't 100% sure how it would look - but i think it matches up nicely

3.

if you've been reading then you know about recent christmas inner struggle.  i love getting caught up in the excitement - even this early, but i've firmly put my foot down on decorating early.

but that hasn't stopped me from completely geeking out over this king arthur flour catalog  i got in the mail.  i'm ready to get my bake on!  (not in the washington/colorado sense)

4.

it's officially cold enough at night (which is major booo) BUT it does mean snuggling up on the couch with a blanket

or you know...a wildcat snuggie.  i have one complaint - i'm continually trying to close the back of my snuggie to keep a cold draft from seeping in.  the snuggie is pretty much flawed in that department unless you clothespin it shut.  or perhaps i need to graduate to the forever lazy.

if this isn't the epitome of sexy, i don't know what is.

5.

my boss is great!  and so is our internal auditor who bought us these shirts

i know the honey badger is so 2011 but i like that the nickname has remained.  and also - i'm not a giant.  i'm pretty tall (5'6)  but my boss is just incredibly short (she has boots on and i have flats on)

and i'm throwing in a couple more thankfuls since i was mia:

*starbucks red cups are out!

i enjoyed a gingerbread latte last weekend - and omg it was so good.  the spiciness of the gingerbread won me over and will be my fall/winter go to drink.

also - look who is almost a gold card carrying starbucks member!

i have a little over a month to get 7 more stars!  who wants to go get coffee?!

*i also heard my first christmas song today!  it happened by accident really

i was listening to morning radio on my drive in this morning and i was bored with the talking so i flipped over to 105.5 genX radio - sometimes they play some great 90's flashbacks!  but i was surprised when i heard...

jingle bell rock - which of course instantly reminded me of this movie.

i only listened for about 3 songs before i deemed it too early to continue.

annnnnd it wouldn't be friday if i didn't mention bath and body works

$10 off any purchase of $30 or more*

go online and print off your coupon - it's good through the 18th!  i've been stocking up on pump soaps for stocking stuffers.

ok - enjoy your weekend!  it's supposed to be in the 70's here :)
