Good Tidings

good tidings, thank goodness it's friday!

let's get down to business

1.  i am very thankful that my aunt is ok after a semi-serious fall the sunday before christmas.  we spent the day in the ER, and she has some pretty staples in her head - but luckily it wasn't worse and it was caused in part to new medication and light headedness. 

2.  thank goodness i have bill.  after hanging out at what is easily the worst emergency room in all of louisville and not having enough boxes or bags to wrap presents on christmas eve, and discovering the stores were sold out of everything.  i had a mini breakdown. 

 and bill opened his presents right out of the bags i purchased them in

bless his heart.  and buffalo trace.

3.  my aunt lisa hosted a wonderfully casual christmas lunch despite her recent injury.  and there are many reasons i appreciate her - one being that the lady can find a kate spade bargain and share :)

4.  after not being able to spend a single day at home relaxing on my days off - i was very thankful i got in a bit of this

woodford is clearly trying to push me off the couch so he can snuggle with his daddy, but on a cold night i just try and tuck my legs under the furry heat lamp and pretend i'm comfortable.

5.  there's lots of things i'm thankful for and proud of and blessed with - but when those blessings are hard to recognize - it's best to just make some homemade bread

 nothing makes me happier than some flour, salt, and yeast mixed together

and then i remember it's about all the small simple stuff added together

makes a pretty tiny but ABSOLUTELY delicious loaf

i think that deserves-

 a good tidings friday!  5 things that made me happy this week:

1.  we survived the world ending.  this time. 

2.  SNOW!

ok...so we have a small dusting.

but it's still the first snow of the season so it counts.  i kind of hope we can get a few more flurries and not all the rain we've had the past week - it really helps make the season a bit more merry.

3.  wrapping party.  party of one. 

i actually only managed to get those two presents wrapped.  i hadn't used my cricut in awhile and i think i need a new blade and definitely a new sticky mat - the hairspray wasn't helping.

instead of bows - i thought i would put shapes on my gifts.  but with the quirky acting cutter - my wrapping party got delayed.  i think my shapes idea is going to turn out cute though!  check out those feet!  that gift is for a special lady pregnant with twins! - woodford is jealous.

4.  birthday drinks!

it was pint night at one of my favorite bars on my birthday - so a couple of coworker/friends and i stopped by after work.  if you order the pint of the night you get to take the glass home - i have a couple from the last pint night we went to - one day when bill and i have a bar space we will be set on glassware.

and bonus (even though i'm a total UK fan)

the UofL basketball team was dining at O'sheas - i tried to get a good picture...bummer..

5.  long weekend!  christmas is finally here!  i'm so excited!



our official christmas cards have been sent out and everyone on our mailing list should have received theirs by now. 

if i'm not back before christmas i hope you all have a merry holiday and enjoy your time off with loved ones.

1.  instagram is so awesome - i don't know how it happened but i currently have 745 likes on this photo

i don't normally take such awesome photos, but i have to admit - everything in the keys was just so pretty to capture.

2.  i posted about this yesterday

but it's the best thing ever, and i don't think i can ever purchase ice cream again after this experience.  i'm heading to kroger this weekend to buy more flavors. 

3.  i'm a little christmas obsessed this year.  and i'm not ashamed.  i currently have 3 trees up (in a 2 bedroom condo) and i am threatening to go get another tree for the kitchen.

i'm not going to even front.  this is probably happening this weekend.  i'm thankful for an extra week of november after thanksgiving to really decorate the house before december is even here!

4.  green bean deliveries. 

i have a healthy bunch of brussels sprouts that are going to get cooked down with some onion and asparagus this weekend. i'm salivating just thinking about it.

5.  as per usual.  bath and body works.  they are having an awesome coupon right now.  one free item ($13 value) with the purchase of $10.  it's so easy to spend $10 - so load up on stocking stuffers and get a free item for yourself!

since i've been mia for the past couple of weeks - i'll include a few things i'm thankful from last week too!

1. 

i'm mrs ottman! 

i was signing my name to something the other day - and i wasn't sure which name to use since i haven't officially changed mine...but i guess i need to start practicing.  did anyone else used to doodle on their notebooks in middle school with your last name written as some celebrity crush?  i'm totally going to do that this afternoon.  except with my real life crush.

2. 

i took this picture in the bathroom this morning so it looks orangey

but i love that i get to wear my wedding band now too!  i think it makes my ring look more fancy.  also.  it was bought on amazon.  i wasn't 100% sure how it would look - but i think it matches up nicely

3.

if you've been reading then you know about recent christmas inner struggle.  i love getting caught up in the excitement - even this early, but i've firmly put my foot down on decorating early.

but that hasn't stopped me from completely geeking out over this king arthur flour catalog  i got in the mail.  i'm ready to get my bake on!  (not in the washington/colorado sense)

4.

it's officially cold enough at night (which is major booo) BUT it does mean snuggling up on the couch with a blanket

or you know...a wildcat snuggie.  i have one complaint - i'm continually trying to close the back of my snuggie to keep a cold draft from seeping in.  the snuggie is pretty much flawed in that department unless you clothespin it shut.  or perhaps i need to graduate to the forever lazy.



if this isn't the epitome of sexy, i don't know what is.

5.

my boss is great!  and so is our internal auditor who bought us these shirts

i know the honey badger is so 2011 but i like that the nickname has remained.  and also - i'm not a giant.  i'm pretty tall (5'6)  but my boss is just incredibly short (she has boots on and i have flats on)

and i'm throwing in a couple more thankfuls since i was mia:

*starbucks red cups are out!


i enjoyed a gingerbread latte last weekend - and omg it was so good.  the spiciness of the gingerbread won me over and will be my fall/winter go to drink.

also - look who is almost a gold card carrying starbucks member!

i have a little over a month to get 7 more stars!  who wants to go get coffee?!

*i also heard my first christmas song today!  it happened by accident really

i was listening to morning radio on my drive in this morning and i was bored with the talking so i flipped over to 105.5 genX radio - sometimes they play some great 90's flashbacks!  but i was surprised when i heard...

jingle bell rock - which of course instantly reminded me of this movie.

i only listened for about 3 songs before i deemed it too early to continue.

annnnnd it wouldn't be friday if i didn't mention bath and body works








go online and print off your coupon - it's good through the 18th!  i've been stocking up on pump soaps for stocking stuffers.

a list of 5 things i'm grateful for this week

1.  today is the end of the last full week of work before i find myself here:








2.  tomorrow is my most favorite craft fair to go to



















the glendale crossing festival is what i look forward to the most every october

and hopefully i'll come away with something cute for the house and a big bag of kettle corn

3.  bill is off all weekend!  which means we get to spend a little extra time together - and you know...probably go eat mexican, go to target, and maybe bath and body works

4.  i'm so thankful for my aunt lisa who is always so on top of things.  i wasn't sure what kind of jewelry i wanted to wear for the big day - and she knows how much i love big jewelry so she's coming with me to help me pick out a piece from lulubelles

5.  this is going to be very TMI - you've been warned - but this is probably the one thing i'm most thankful for this week and next

i started my period a couple of days early.  i keep an app on my phone to track them - especially since i sometimes get migraines associated with my period - so this means i will be cramp, headache, tampon free while on my weddingmoon.  when we originally set the date i checked several months ahead and at one point i was practically going to start the day OF.

hallelujah!  i'll take this as a personal blessing.

YAY for date night!  with my recently busy schedule, bill and i haven't had a chance to have an actual date.  bill mentioned last year wanting to see dracula but we never made it - so this year we were able to get tickets for our only free weekend of the running of the play

and lastly

5.  i'm so thankful for cooler weather to get to do this

without breaking a sweat!
